"Rats is a concept album exploring different facets of this controversial animal as well as the life of the artist and his relationship with them: either by carrying it as a nickname, a pet or food for snakes, rats have always played a defining role in Rafael's life. The narrative comes alive through rock 'n roll ballads fused with hip-hop beats punctuated by psychedelic guitars, the lyrics mostly bilingual, mixing English and Portuguese in both spoken and singing form seem to almost emulate a journal of Rafael's encounters with Rats and its subsequent consequences - artistic or otherwise."
